The Weight of War Run is the flagship community event for Weight of War Ltd (ACN: 698 550 999), a registered Australian not-for-profit public company limited by guarantee. Our mission is to ensure no Australian veteran carries the burden of service alone. The event raises awareness and funds to sponsor veterans onto our structured 12-month conditioning pipelines, culminating in the Phase 2 Tasmania Wilderness Mentorship Program, alongside funding university-partnered transition research. The physical event symbolises the "weight of war" through a 21km run executed in a weight vest and budgy smugglers, balancing raw physical strength with human vulnerability.

The event will be held on 5 December 2026 across the following synchronised national locations:

3. Why a weight vest and budgy smugglers?

This choice is deeply rooted in our Core Values of Shared Burden and Resilience. The vest symbolises the weight of service. The budgy smugglers represent the absolute vulnerability required to speak up, drop the armour, and bridge the gap between military service and civilian life.

4. Do I have to run the full 21km?

No. While the 21km run is our primary "Movement" to raise awareness, we offer fully scaled distances of 10km, 5km, and 1km. Whether you walk, run, ride, or scoot, the ultimate goal is active participation, solidarity, and community connection.

5. Is there a virtual participation option?

Absolutely. We welcome participants from every corner of Australia and around the world to join the movement virtually. This ensures that the "Shared Burden" is felt and supported regardless of physical geography.

6. How do I register?

Registration is 100% free for all participants and spectators. Weight of War Ltd is entirely committed to keeping our events inclusive, barrier-free, and accessible to the entire veteran, first responder, and civilian community.

Preparation is about far more than just physical conditioning; it’s about framing The Next Mission. 9. What is the significance of the event?

The event serves our core charitable object of advancing social and public welfare. It stands as a public testament to stories untold, helping veterans re-purpose their elite skills and find new objectives in civilian life with the same integrity they demonstrated in service.

10. How are my donations managed?

Weight of War Ltd operates under strict, transparent financial controls. In direct accordance with our Constitution and our Financial Management Policy:

• 100% Pro-Bono Executive: All of our Directors and founders operate on a strictly pro-bono basis, taking $0 in wages or directors' fees to ensure overhead is minimised.

• Line-Item Tracking: Public donations are strictly ring-fenced and tracked through dedicated accounts in our bookkeeping software, meaning your money is legally locked to fund direct participant costs.

• Sponsorship Covered Administration: We actively secure separate corporate CSR sponsorships and merchandise revenue to cover our essential operational and administrative costs (like insurance and regulatory compliance), ensuring community donations have maximum frontline impact.

11. How can I get involved other than running?

You can actively support by volunteering at a local transition point, becoming a corporate sponsor, or showing up as a spectator to cheer the runners in. All third-party hosts and volunteers operate under strict safety and values-alignment guidelines to ensure the safety of our participants and the integrity of our mission.

12. What is the history and outcome of previous runs?

While Weight of War Ltd is now a formalised, licensed corporation, we recognise the deep Legacy and Continuity of the grassroots mission started in 2021. In the five years prior to our formal incorporation (2021–2025), this community movement successfully raised $69,424.31 a foundation we continue to build upon as we scale our support for the next generation of transitioning veterans.

13. How can I spread the word?

Share our mission, values, and training journey on social media using our official channels. By highlighting the unfiltered truth of the veteran and first responder experience, you help us act as a shield for those who can no longer carry the weight alone.

14. Can I bring my family and friends?

Absolutely. We highly encourage families, kids, and friends to attend to help us foster a community of action. We simply ask that every attendee registers online (for free) prior to the day to assist our team with insurance and safety compliance.

15. How will I know if I win a raffle?

Raffle processes vary slightly depending on the local host venue, so please ensure you check the specific terms at your location. For example, at our Brisbane event at Felons Brewing Co., when you purchase your raffle ticket via the Me&U app, the digital contact details you provide will be automatically used to notify you of a win.

16. How are winners chosen?

To guarantee absolute fairness and transparency in line with our governance standards, all winners are selected via a verified random number generator. Winners have 5 business days to confirm their details. If no contact is made, the prize is redrawn.

17. What if I don't want a prize?

You are welcome to decline a prize, in which case it will be immediately redrawn for another participant. In the spirit of Traditional Integrity, prizes cannot be swapped or exchanged for cash; we maintain a strict "you get what you get" framework to keep the focus entirely on the charitable cause.

18. How do I become a formal member of Weight of War?

Becoming a formal member of Weight of War Ltd goes beyond registering for our events; it means taking an active role in the governance and future of the charity. Because we are a public Company Limited by Guarantee, our members hold voting rights at our Annual General Meetings (AGMs) and help shape our strategic direction.

• Who can apply: We welcome applications from current, transitioning or retired ADF veterans, emergency first responders, and dedicated civilian supporters who are deeply aligned with our core values of Shared Burden, Resilience, and Traditional Integrity.
