You've got the programme. Now fuel it.
Fuel the Weight is the training nutrition guide from Weight of War, built for everyone taking on the Weight of War Run and the 21km Weighted Vest Running Program. It covers what to eat, how much and when, scaled to your body weight, so you get to the start line fuelled, hydrated and not guessing.
No fad diets. No fat burners. No "trust me bro" nutrition. Every number is drawn from Clinical Sports Nutrition (6th ed.), the Australian Dietary Guidelines and published sports nutrition position stands, and every claim is referenced.
A 17-page PDF you can read once properly, then keep on your phone.
section 1: What's inside
- The foundation. Eat like an adult first, then fuel for the work you're actually doing.
- The numbers. Carbohydrate, protein and fluid targets for before, during and after training, plus daily targets by training load.
- Find your row. Every target already worked out for body weights from 60 to 130 kg, so there's no maths.
- Run day. 21km in a vest in December heat. It covers the sweat-rate test, carbs per hour by finishing time, sodium, heat illness, over-drinking, and recovery after the finish line.
- Supplements. What works, what's a waste of money and what could get you in trouble, using the AIS Sports Supplement Framework. It includes our partner Alivia's creatine, electrolytes and amino acids.
- God's Nectar, red flags and who to call. Where the beers fit after the main event, the warning signs of under-fuelling and bone stress, and where to get help.
- The 100 kg example. One person's numbers worked through start to finish, a full training day on a plate, and a Run-day plan.
- Quick-reference card. Screenshot it and take it to the gym.
section 2: Who it's for
- Anyone training for the Weight of War Run in Brisbane, Cronulla, Karratha or Canberra.
- Anyone working through the 21km Weighted Vest Running Program.
- Veterans, first responders and civilians who want to train hard without under-eating their way into injury.
Pairs with the free 21km Weighted Vest Running Program.

The fine print
This guide is general education, not a personalised meal plan or medical advice. If you have a medical condition, take regular medication or have a history of disordered eating, take it to your GP or an Accredited Practising Dietitian and work through it with them. Veterans with a DVA Gold Card, or a White Card for an accepted condition, may be able to get dietetic services funded. Start with your GP.
