Zero79 Foundation
The Zero79 Foundation is an Australian-registered charity. It holds the distinction of being the sole charity in Australia dedicated exclusively to supporting Commandos and their families. The name "Zero79" comes from the employment category number for commando operators — ECN079. It's run by a volunteer team made up of current and former serving Commandos, plus friends and families of the fallen.
What they do
They provide rapid, tailored support to current and former serving Commandos of Australia's SOCOMD, built around connection, wellbeing, and successful transition out of service. Their work includes financial, emergency, and transition support; mental, physical, and emotional wellness programs; "Konnect" social connection and cohesion programs; wellness camps; family connection initiatives; and skill/transition programs (e.g., the Forge Through knife-forging program).
They also honour fallen Commandos through an Honour Roll and promote Australian Commando-owned businesses worldwide. The foundation runs on donations and fundraising, with events like the Kokoda Trek, Na Koa Regatta, and the Weight of War Run.
